Nestled on the shores of Lake Simcoe and the Trent-Severn Waterway lies the pastoral paradise of Brock Township in north Durham Region. Brock offers a wide variety of recreational activities for visitors to experience.

Brock DowntownWhether cruising the waterways, casting your fishing line, enjoying water sports, or picnicking nearby, fun activities abound on Brock’s fresh-water beaches. For landlubbers, playing a round of golf, viewing summer theatre, buying art from the local gallery, or exploring the quaint villages make the stay delightful.

If you enjoy playing in the water, Brock is the place to be. Whether revving a powerboat across Lake Simcoe or cruising the Trent Severn Waterway, you’ll have an exciting experience. Beaverton has two public boat launches and two full-service marinas. Set your sails to Thorah Island or paddle your canoe along the Beaver River.

For angler’s it’s tough to beat the waters of Lake Simcoe. Whether you’re trolling for Lakers off the back of a 40-foot cruiser or huddling around a 12-inch hold in the ice, this part of the lake offers some of the best fishing in Southern Ontario.

Brock is home to three privately operated campgrounds, all of which offer tent and trailer camping and are easily reached by major roads. In addition, the Township offers a number of parks for the enjoyment of all; three of which are situated on the shores of Lake Simcoe!

Brock HarbourThe township is blessed with numerous kilometres of trails offering spectacular views of environmentally sensitive landforms. In winter, additional trails are added that form part of the OFSC trail network.

Golfers won’t be disappointed with the choices offered; two golf courses are located within yards of Lake Simcoe, just south of Beaverton.

Brock’s two fairs showcase a rich agricultural heritage. The Sunderland Fair is one of the oldest in Durham Region and the Beaverton Fall Fair is host to a dog show, horse show, 4-H Championship Cow and Calf Show and demolition derby.

Perhaps the biggest event that takes place on an annual basis is the Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival. Hundreds of visitors flock to the village each year for a large stack of pancakes and everything else that makes the festival a wonderful experience.

Brock Township is becoming known for its expanding artistic community. From the Beaverton Town Hall Players to a variety of art shows and sales, guests are amazed at the variety and quality of work.

The Beaverton Thorah Eldon Historical Society operators a tour providing a glimpse of the unique architecture featured in our community. The Cannington Centennial Museum and the Beaver River Museum offer tours of the historic buildings and artifacts, as well as genealogical resources.

A charming shopping district, craft shows, farmers markets and antique shops and shows offer shopping for everyone. Brock’s quaint bed & breakfasts offer a world of old-style, friendly hospitality in gracious, historic homes.
